When you find lines where others lose their nerve, the Direttissima will
tempt you to take them even more. The brake lets you feel how to handle
it at all times so as not to lose control. Thanks to the ratio of
braking force and system stiffness with minimal friction in the lever
mechanism, it achieves instinctive braking precision. The brake lever
drives a 9mm pump piston that directs the oil to the four 14/17mm
stainless steel caliper pistons with a progressive toggle joint linkage,
meaning the further you pull the brake lever, the greater the increase
in force you exert. This nifty little trick allows you to cleverly
increase braking power without feeling like you're arm-wrestling with
the handlebars. The brake lever lets you immediately feel when the pads
are catching the discs, thanks to the extremely pressure-resistant
Kevlar hoses, and milled 7075 aluminum brake pump, lever, and caliper
the system stiffness is increased, generating a conspicuously direct
bite point. The polymer pump piston minimizes friction, the stainless
steel caliper pistons return evenly and keep your pressure point
consistent. Paired with ball bearing brake levers, you get the precision
to tackle even the gnarliest, most demanding direct lines.
